Summersets Share Another Piece Of The Story “never love another”
After reuniting through their roots from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Kalle Mattson and Andrew Sowka combined forces to form Summersets, a narrative-driven musical project rich in retro folk stylings and melancholic storytelling. Their upcoming Small Town Saturday EP is out on August 21st, and the duo have shared another single from the release, providing a closer look at the full story of two characters who meet and fall in love in a small town.
“never love another” is a central piece of the narrative on Small Town Saturday, as it encompasses the lifelong journey of the two characters, starting at the spark of their relationship, moving into marriage, starting a family, and loving each other ’til death.
Mattson and Sowka take a page from the early stylings of ’60s and ’70s songwriters, focusing heavily on the song’s lyrics and story. The repeating chorus of “I’ll never love another” is simple, yet striking; the delicate vocals of Mattson provide a haunting quality to the song, as the characters’ lives grow and grow.
The accompanying music video includes vintage wedding footage, giving shape to the song’s romantic spirit and capturing the euphoric moments of love and relationships.
