Le Couleur Explores The Taboo In New Single “Désert”
Montréal based trio Le Couleur have shared a new single from their forthcoming album, Concorde. “Désert” is a song in two parts – embarking at first on a sunny disco cruise, transforming into a nostalgic ballad that ultimately culminates in a heavy guitar solo.
The bouncy opening instrumentals are reminiscent of a ‘70s TV talk show, offset by lyrics that paint death as a mirage, ensnaring audiences in its net. Lead singer Laurence Giroux-Do takes the sombre subject and treats it to a new perspective over a psychedelic soundscape, inviting listeners to the middle of a desert where they’re forced to examine death head on.
A hallmark of their sound from the very beginning, the trio continues their exploration of death through Giroux-Do’s lyrics, tackling death on every track. Concorde is the place where 70s pop, and straightforward, uninhibited French chanson come together, and you can experience it for yourself on September 11th.
