Scenic Route to Alaska Bring You “Closer” With Their New Single From Upcoming LP
“Closer” is the newest single off Scenic Route to Alaska’s upcoming album, Time for Yourself, out on August 19th. Capturing your attention from the opening chord, the song speaks of craving an increased closeness to another person, whether or not the connection between you is meant to last.
Trevor Mann, lead vocalist, likens their sound to “a truer representation of what we do when we get together and make music.” The unfiltered sound brings a ‘what you see is what get’ feeling to the song, with an upfront honesty that can be universally understood through their lyrics: “I am yours, and you are mine / but in time we will see if this was meant to be / In time we will find out if this love will last / but for now we just lie down / come a little bit closer now.”
The familiar sentiment of the song, the ache for a closeness to someone, is easy to understand, and draws you into the song’s slick West Coast psych-rock twang.
The Edmonton-based indie pop trio have already dropped two acclaimed LPs filled with memorable melodies and catchy vocals, partnered with compelling arrangements, and “Closer” is no exception. Enjoy their new single below or on our Monthly Spotify playlist.
