Sylo Nozra Gets Sour With New Video For “Citrus”

Toronto alt-R&B/dance-pop artist Sylo Nozra grew up in a religious Korean household. His involvement in his church choir ignited his love for music and lead him to learn a handful of different instruments as well as develop his vocal abilities. Now as an established musician, his upbringing on R&B, soul, and K-pop has influenced his sound, combing the chill, sultry vibes of each genre for his own music.

On his new single “Citrus”, Nozra dives into the looming anxiousness from sensing a relationship is ending with an upbeat, bedroom-pop vibe. Helping to tell the song’s narrative, the video for “Citrus,” directed by Martin Klapperbein, depicts a wild, chaotic dream-like sequence of a man just trying to get ready for a first date. “I wanted to convey the anxiousness one feels when getting ready for an important date or event. The images you can put into your head and the result of overthinking something,” says Klapperbein.

From time suddenly passing to mocking digital clocks to burning kitchens, what starts off as a great day takes a destructive turn for dancer Michael John Myers, who was featured in Sylo’s previous video for “FOMO”.
