Working out of his bedroom studio, Toronto nu-R&B artist Sylo has been working on some new music. His slick production, and groovy, slow-burning R&B style makes for some chill tunes.

The Korean-Canadian was inspired by his older sister’s music of ’90s R&B and hip-hop. On his new single “Ginny”, his childhood influences are clear, as Sylo plays with funky bass lines, sensual vocals, and soulful bounce.

Written about giving into your vices, Sylo explains:

“The cycles of addiction – from substances to sex – are made up of blurred lines. it’s not the specific thing you’re using as an escape, it’s the urge inside of you. the feeling of fighting something, but sometimes it gets the best of you. ‘Ginny’ is the vices of alcohol as a nickname for gin and sex, and how the two are married in this song”.

Listen below, and stay tuned for Sylo’s debut album set for release in August.
