Haich Ber Na Release Adventurous EP ‘From Then ‘Til Now’
On February 17th, London musician Haich Ber Na released his avant-pop EP From Then ‘Til Now, opening up the floodgates for an eclectic and exciting blend of electronica, dance, garage, and future-pop. The four track release is some of the producer’s most pop-forward music yet, but not without finding his own way to shake up the script.
“The name ‘ From Then ‘Til Now ’ is an exploration of ideas based on the past present and future”, Haich explains. “It’s also the gap between my previous work and where I’m going with new material; breaking and repurposing the past and capitalising from it”.
Describing the change as “fetishizing nostalgia”, Haich accentuates the throwback nature of the release by being inspired by Jamiroquai ’s ‘Virtual Insanity’ video for his own MTV-style music video for “0594 Help”. The old-school electronic elements and drum samples are a time machine in themselves, and find a reoccurring place throughout the release, especially on the aforementioned single, and the UK garage club hit “Both Ways”.
While still helping to push the sound into the future, opening track “87 Days” mashes together interlocking textures and rhythms, as Haich’s glowing falsetto streamlines the song. Similarly, his vocals take over on “Thinking About It”, draping overtop glossy synthesizers.
