Jesse Maxwell Shares Live Video Of New Single “I’ll Make You”
Toronto-based R&B singer/songwriter Jesse Maxwell made a strong impression with his previous single “Undone“. As the follow-up to his 2020 debut album Radio Silence, the track was a strong evolution of his soulful voice and his classically-trained pianist background. Adding to his repertoire of 2021, Jesse Maxwell has announced his new EP Hellion that will be released May 7th. Included in the collection is the newly shared “I’ll Make You”, alongside its accompanying live music video.
After changing his life around following a battle with addiction, Maxwell’s music has a introspective depth to it, adding to the intimacy of the R&B genre, but on different terms. On “I’ll Make You”, he focuses his attention on the superficial expectations in relationships.
He shares, “I’ll Make You is a song about materialism and the superficiality. Using brands and articles of clothing as a way to communicate and win someone over with lines like “when I can afford Balenciaga” “take it off and you’re crop top last” and “I’m not intimidated by his leather coat”. Being the one in this story that doesn’t define themselves by those standards, I’m convincing this person that these materials they are looking won’t satisfy their needs but rather something deeper that they can feel“.
