Whitehorse Share New Song “I Wanna Make Promises (I Can’t Keep)” Alongside New LP Announcement

Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet, the husband and wife duo behind the ever-evolving act Whitehorse are set to release their fifth studio album Modern Love this Friday March 19th. The JUNO-award winning pair have shifted from their folk/singer-songwriter beginnings to evolve into a more explorative and rock-infused sound over the years, and this upcoming release is a strong shift into the synthetic sounds of modern music.

Alongside the announcement of the new record, Whitehorse have shared their latest single “I Wanna Make Promises (That I Can’t Keep)”. The pair put their stripped back vocals and harmonies at the forefront, while subtle hints of electric guitars and steady 4/4 drums round out the energy of the song, before wobbling synthesizers and cinematic string arrangements make their way in to fill in the gaps. Expect to hear more futuristic and evolved sounds on Modern Love, as Whitehorse put out the next chapter of their love story.

To celebrate the release of the new album, Whitehorse will be performing as part of the Horseshoe Hootenanny live stream series from the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto on March 26th. Get your tickets here and listen to “I Wanna Make Promises” below:
