L.A. Trio Young Winona Share New Single “Confess”
Since transplanting themselves into the dynamic and competitive music scene of Los Angeles back in 2014, New Zealand natives Cassie Gaffaney and drummer/husband Nick Gaffaney spent a few years solidifying their course in the industry. Setting up shop as Young Winona back in 2018 with fellow New Zealand expat Geoff Maddock on bass, the trio are building their repertoire with their sophomore single “Confess”.
Standing out with its dark-tinged alternative rock sound, “Confess” teeters between hopefully and distress, described as “like a fork in the road between fear and desire”. Opening with a grungey shoegaze energy, Cassie’s vocals eventually build into a climax of “I want to confess what I’ve done” over a wall of a guitars and sharp-shooting percussion.
