Fiddlehead Announce New LP With Melodic Single “Million Times”

Grief packs a powerful punch. Whether it’s death, a failed relationship, a lost opportunity; grief sneaks in and lingers, reappearing at whim. Punk-rockers Fiddlehead are no strangers to bringing grief to light through their music – their first album, 2018’s Springtime & Blind, focused on the death of frontman Pat Flynn’s father, and their forthcoming album Between the Richness revisits grief under a new lense. Sharing the first single, “Million Times”, Fiddlehead give listeners an introduction to their new album out May 21st.

The band’s blend of hardcore energy, undeniable melody and combustive guitar riffs stitch together to produce a sound uniquely their own. Fiddlehead is made up of past members of Have Heart, Basement among others, fusing elements of post-hardore, post-punk and classic 80’s emo into their music. Coupled with Flynn’s thoughtful and open hearted lyrics, “Million Times” previews the new album, with a glimpse at the duality of the relationship between happiness and sadness. “It was important for me to capture that perfectly paradoxical feeling,” shares Flynn. “That was the problem I was typing to solve on this record…that weird clashing of happiness and sadness.” “Million Times” visits that relationship through an old love that’s repeatedly revisited: “Come back for our millionth try / come back for one more million times.”

The track’s music video features the four piece jamming while behind them artist Chris Wilson works to complete a mystery mural that develops along with the song. Keeping the visual accompaniment for “Million Times” clean and simple, it almost feels like you’re at a basement show and can sing back the anthemic chorus in real time. The mural comes together at the culmination of the video, a clear visual representation of the two once-lovers Flynn is singing about: “What’s love if not a war for peace that never ends?”.

Fiddlehead’s second album, Between the Richness, is due out May 21, with “Million Times” available to stream and download all the usual places now. You can watch the music video below – and keep your eye out for a special guest appearance from Flynn’s son, who might just be the future of pop-punk.
