Yoke Lore Shares New Track “Seeds” From Film ‘Pink Skies Ahead’
Brooklyn-based artist Adrian Galvin, formerly of Yellerkin and Walk the Moon, has shared his latest solo effort under his moniker Yoke Lore. Off the soundtrack for the critically-acclaimed film Pink Skies Ahead, the new single “Seeds” is a triumphant and uplifting song about supporting a loved one through their struggle with anxiety and mental health.
Adrian Galvin says, “‘Seeds’ is about trying to love someone who is going through a crisis. It’s about the struggle of trying to be there for someone who can’t be there for themselves and how that makes love complicated.” Melancholic chord progressions and M83-inspired synthesizers create a heaviness and depth that are heightened by the song’s message.
Premiering Saturday May 8th on MTV at 9pm ET in the U.S. and May 14th in Canada, the Kelly Oxford written and directed film Pink Skies Ahead sheds light on the challenges of living with anxiety. Alongside “Seeds”, Galvin and longtime collaborator Airel Loh composed the score. Galvin shares, “Ariel and I have made some ventures into other sonic realms before, but never scored an entire film.”
Despite venturing into new territory, composing music for the film came naturally for the duo. “Our job here was really to enrich the environment with the reality of being human. Sparse and nostalgic, this score provides a sonic backdrop to the story and setting itself. We made music for a moment in LA in the late 1990’s so that viewers have the opportunity to not just identify with the characters, but to identify with the way the story is told, the environment in which its happening, the temperature and humidity of the city, and the external dialogue of a girl in California who is learning to know and love herself.”
