Indie Folk Songwriter Cole Scheifele Shares Reflective New Single “Company Clothes”

Hailing from Denver, Colorado comes indie folk artist Cole Scheifele, who recently shared his third single “Company Clothes” from his upcoming album The Hideaways. Showcasing his ability to merge storytelling with his guitar-lead melodies, Scheifele sings about feeling trapped and stuck in the routine of a job that is unfulfilling or not true to who we are. Through the eyes of a crafted protagonist, the song’s journey is warm and melancholic, as he pains through day after day with a ear-pleasing apathy. Reflecting on the song, he shares “They sort of gnaw at us quietly and we bury them and then they break open and get real big and then they soften again”.

With each turn of the chorus, Scheifele provides a ray of hope through his full-bodied arrangements. His soft, yet country twanged vocals carry the weight of Americana but with the youthfulness of indie folk artists like The Head & The Heart and acoustic guitar pop icon Passenger, mixing nostalgia with humanistic reflection. Scheifele adds, “it’s only when we learn that our pasts don’t define us as we are now that we can learn from those things and really grow and change”.
