Indie Folk Singer-Songwriter Runnner Signs to Run For Cover; Shares New Recording Of “Awash” From Upcoming LP

As the new signee to Run For Cover Records, Noah Weinman, the L.A.-based singer/songwriter behind Runnner, will be releasing his new album Always Repeating on July 16th. The 10-track collection features re-recorded versions of songs from his 2017 debut Awash and 2020’s One of One EP. Serving as the lead single for the upcoming LP, “Awash” is one of those re-recorded efforts, bringing out Weinman’s unfiltered and honest songwriting.

With a moody, fog-covered Midwest folk style, “Awash” was originally written during a time of isolation when Weinman felt disconnected from the people around him while living in Ohio before moving back to Los Angeles. “I wrote this song in about 15 minutes, though I had been kicking the title around for a bit,” he explains. “It felt like the word I was looking for, but I couldn’t get past it. I was feeling so lost & distant from everything, but I would choke on the language anytime I tried to elaborate. I eventually was able to let the song come simply and not stress the specificity too much.”

Building on the song’s earlier skeleton, the 2021 version of “Awash” brings with it richer and more luscious instrumentation, allowing Runnner’s soul-touching vocals to stand taller over the listener as he sings about feeling disconnected and languid.
