Indie Rock Artist Tim Ayre Shares New Single “So Long” From Upcoming EP
Sydney-based musician and composer Tim Ayre has shared his new single “So Long”, the latest from his upcoming EP Modern Life out June 16th via Kitsuné Musique. Influenced by the likes of The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and The Flaming Lips, his dream-pop style mixes in with the details of his predecessors on his new single, aiming to bring back the ’60s and ’70s pop with a modern flare.
On the track, Tim shares: “I wanted to write something that felt like it was from the 60s or 70s but also had a modern flip to it. The song is really inspired heavily by Todd Rundgren ‘I Saw The Light’ & The Beach Boys ‘Surfs Up’ at the time. Tobias and I sat down wrote it and produced the track pretty much in a few hours. It’s probably the song I’m most proud of on this EP. Writing the lyrics came from saying goodbye to my younger self and the things in the past that have no weight in my life anymore. Maybe it’s more about saying ‘So Long little Tim, Hello big little Tim’.’
The glowing, sunny demeanour of “So Long” pays homage to a more carefree period of music, as hazy guitars and dreamy keyboards help say goodbye to the past, with an optimistic and reflective energy courtesy of Ayre’s gooey vocals and shapeshifting song structure.
