Pop-Punk Act Cherym Drop Dirty John-Based Track “Listening To My Head”

Starting out as a kick-back against the local music scene boys club, Northern Ireland trio Cherym have been taking over the local punk scene, occupying more space as more women and non-binary acts continue to flourish. The three friends – Hannah Richardson (guitar/lead vocals), Nyree Porter (bass) and Alannagh Doherty (drums) – have released their new single “Listening To My Head”, emphasizing their enthusiastic and towering punk spirit.

Inspired by bands such as PUP, American Football, and The Pixies, Cherym have a knack for crafting melodic and brash pop-punk songs, drawing from true crime-based content on their latest effort. Commenting on the track, the band said: “This is a song we wrote after Hannah watched the Netflix series Dirty John. It’s written from the point of view of Betty Broderick, wife of Dan Broderick, a successful business man who used Betty to gain his success, tormented her life, left her penniless in the divorce settlement, took full custody of their children, and abused her throughout their relationship. In the end she ended up killing him…and his lover, but that’s beside the point. This is Betty’s song 🎵🌞
