It’s August?!?

Once again time is fleeting, but fortunately most of my time has been spent discovering the latest and greatest in the world of new music. This past week was one of the busiest of the year, but I’ve managed to come out the other side with a wonderful, exciting collection.

You can listen to all 40 tracks on the Spotify playlist, but here are a few honourable mentions from the list that are worthy of your extra attention.

ÄTNA x MEUTE – Weirdo

Avant-garde pop duo ÄTNA and techno marching band MEUTE have come together for the exciting collaborative track “Weirdo”. Colourful percussion and dense, electronic elements give the track a rich quality and rhythmic energy.

Duskus – Hard Times

UK producer Duskus wanted to provide an upbeat and energizing release from the past year and a half, resulting in the universally relatable track “Hard Times”. The warm, electronica spirit and textured future house style make for an enjoyable listen.


Mauvey – 9

Vancouver-based indie artist Mauvey embraces the journey of love on his colourful new single “9”. Combining R&B, pop, inditronica, and electro-pop, the new single is an exciting taste of his larger project, out later this year.

Jaden Castro – Starz

Combining jazz, soul, and old school hip-hop for an exciting combination, Jaden Castro uses his lyrically-driven style to create an intoxicating and bouncing experience on his new track “Starz”.


Killers to Lovers – Green Light

Brooklyn duo Killers to Lovers are hard to pin down stylistically. Their exciting blend of punk and hip-hop combine the hard-hitting qualities of both for an exhilarating and bass-crunching listen, as they join the growing evolution of the genres.


DoFlame – All Out

Unleashing his hardcore sound, 18 year old garage rock artist DoFlame has shared his new hook-filled single “All Out”. Part of the new wave of underground rock in line with DEAR-GOD and OFFLEASH, the gritty, nu-metal-inspired track is punchy and unforgiving.


Amyl and the Sniffers – Security

Australian rockers Amyl and the Sniffers have unveiled the crowd favourite “Security”. Officially recorded for their upcoming album Comfort To Me out September 10th, the frantic and distorted single is a off-beat love song that is filled to the brim with energy and melody.


Grasser – Who Do I See?

Experimental indie rock act Grasser use the power of melody to charm listeners with their off-centered blend of styles and energy on “Who Do I See”. A brass-fronted chorus interlocks with a hyper-pop verse and melodic indie pop. Inexplicably fun and groovy nonetheless.


Goodbye Honolulu – You and Me

Toronto indie rock four-piece Goodbye Honolulu will be releasing their debut album on October 1st, and have shared their groovy new single “You and Me”. Inspired by the sounds of the ’60s and ’70s pop era, the fun and upbeat tune has an addictive and sing-along ready chorus founded on a bed of catchy guitar-pop.


REUNIØN – Over the Moon

London duo REUNIØN have a striking and beguile quality to their music. It’s warm, lush, and powerful, bringing together rich folktronica sounds with crisp, crooning vocals for the heartfelt new single “Over the Moon”. Written about the butterfly feeling when you first meet someone, it’s a warm embrace of soothing indie pop.


finns theme – moroni’s corner

Discovered through my Live Feedback Show on Twitch, finns theme‘s new single “Moroni’s corner” is a warm, psychedelic indie rock track that plays with the narrative style of singer-songwriter, but with a hazy, gooey feel of bedroom lo-fi pop. Built into three parts, the new single is an exciting and unpredictable journey through sound and melody.


Lewis McLaughlin – Summer

UK folk singer-songwriter Lewis McLaughlin relives the magic of summer during childhood on his captivating new single “Summer”. Vocal loops, distorted acoustic instruments, and a foot-stomping, swinging folk melody give the song a luscious and heartwarming feel that grows and grows.

Katelyn Tarver – Shit Happens

L.A.-via-Georgia singer-songwriter Katelyn Tarver embraces the freedom of acceptance on her spirited and realistic single “Shit Happens”. Singing about the cathartic release from understanding pain is inevitable, the gloomy yet soul-touching piece has an oddly comforting energy.
