Melbourne Duo Audition Tape Make The Most Of 2021 With Their New Single “If I Called Tonight”

While some people were having pandemic babies or buying pandemic pets, Australian duo Audition Tape started a pandemic band, coming together at the beginning of 2021 to begin releasing music. Their debut single “Deep Dive” was released back in May, and the pair of Lauren Coutts and Hamish Patrick have shared their sophomore effort “If I Called Tonight”. Evoking elements of Robyn, Chvrches, and Porter Robinson, the synth-pop track is filled with nostalgic melancholy and dance-floor invading beats. The longing in the lyrics contrast the upbeat, anthemic instrumentation, making for both a compelling song and energizing performance.
