PREMIERE: Electronic Producer Frank Lee Shares Title Track From Upcoming EP ‘Taken’

Berlin-based, Australian producer Frank Lee began his professional career as a touring jazz trombonist, travelling the world before falling in love with the music scene in Berlin in 2016. Since then, he has been crafting soul-infused electronic music, influenced by the likes of Theo Parrish, Moodymann, Dilla, and Madlib. From his upcoming EP Taken, Lee has shared its groovy title track, bringing new life to the rhythmic sounds of Black-American beat music through creative sampling and lo-fi production.

“’Taken’ is a track that I put everything into”, he shares. “I was going for that genuine soulful feeling that runs through all the music that I love. I think I found a way to do this with the unique drum groove which is kinda trepidatious but moving forward nonetheless. This is balanced with the vocal cut which I found really complemented this mood. Together they create a vibe in the song which I think is pretty unique.”

Built around a pulsating drum sample, vocal chops and dreamy synthesizers fuse together to build a nu-house track filled with melody, soul, and futuristic textures for a fun and unpredictable dance track.
