Indie Pop Singer-Songwriter Dawson Fuss Shares Self-Acceptance Anthem “Free” From Upcoming EP
Since igniting his musical spark at the age of five through musical productions and theatre programs, Santa Barbara-raised singer-songwriter Dawson Fuss has been inspired by the ability of music to transform emotions into lyrics. With a growing discography, Fuss has shared his latest single “Free”, a lush and poignant indie pop single about being true to yourself.
Incorporating his musical theatre background, “Free” has a vivid storytelling component, met with a compelling, show-tune worthy performance. The song’s warm pop melody and hook usher in Fuss’ candid lyricism, as creates a self-acceptance anthem based on a personal experience.
“Coming out was something I had always tried to avoid because I didn’t want to come to terms with being gay. I convinced myself that my sexuality was a burden to myself and others. However, after I finally realized that coming out was something to take total pride in, I was able to let go and feel truly ‘Free,’” he describes.
“Free” will be on his upcoming EP Edge of Adolescence, and ties together the record’s theme of maturation and acceptance seamlessly.
