Mauvey Shares Colourful Next Chapter “Sunday Afternoon” From Forthcoming Album ‘The Florist’
Vancouver, BC / London, UK singer-songwriter Mauvey shares a cinematic, jovial and vibrant video for his latest single, “Sunday Afternoon”, written about being so obsessed with someone that only the right distraction will take your mind off them. Following his previous music video “9/Helium“, “Sunday Afternoon” continues the narrative of The Florist, his digital album and video series about five characters connected by interesting and serendipitous circumstances.
“The Florist is my directorial debut, and to do it with a team as talented and as accomplished as Amazing Factory is something special,” Mauvey says of the process. “It has been surreal to go from an idea in my head to treatments sent over email to the first day on set. I honestly couldn’t be more excited for the world to see the story unfold. To know that it all connects, all the way to the album is what is magic. My favourite part is knowing the whole story, knowing how it all ends, having my time with that before everyone else knows.”
For “Sunday Afternoon”, the story follows Mauveylocks the Clown, as he attends a party that eventually erupts into a full on food fight with Girlie, played by Jamila Pomeroy.
“I’ve been looking forward to filming the food fight scene from the second I wrote the treatment,” Mauvey says. “It entirely exceeded my expectations. Everyone needs to have a full on food fight at least once in their life. In ‘part’ Sunday Afternoon, we explore the second love story of the series, when Mauveylocks meets Girlie. As the story unfolds, we start to learn, though very slightly, that there is more to Mauveylocks than meets the eye.”
Keeping in theme with his Florist project, Mauvey unveiled an engaging video series leading up to the single release of 9 called 9 Days of Flowers, where he delivers flowers to fans, community members, and friends to share acts of compassion, care and kindness – watch these videos here, and enjoy “Sunday Afternoon” below:
