Penny Lame Makes Triumphant Return To The Stage With New Single “Lipstick”

Nashville born, but Los Angeles based alt-pop artist Penny Lame, the moniker of singer/songwriter/producer Gracen Hill, has shared her new single and video “Lipstick”. While to some it may come across as a debut single, “Lipstick” is not her first release; Gracen had been signed to a record label when she was 20 after dropping out of college, but eventually parted ways after having her music, identity, and earnings taken from her.

Returning as Penny Lame, Hill has full control over her adrenaline-pumping alt-pop sound, and continues to release her demons on the new single. The track is a sweaty alt-punk-pop wake up call about pushing back against a partner’s abusive behaviour and rising out of the toxic fumes. “Every time they hurt me, I would add another few lines and imagine I was screaming at them in the microphone”, Penny says of her writing inspiration.

Her electrifying performance is accentuated with roaring guitars and punk hooks, as she builds and builds with each verse before unleashing on an unsuspecting chorus of vibrant anger. Listen below:
