From the Inbox: Songs You Need To Hear (Oct. 4, 2021)

If you didn’t hear about the Facebook and Instagram crash yet today then congratulations on being a real human being.

Fortunately Dusty Organ isn’t really connected to the servers so we’re doing great! And that means new music for your ears.

From the Inbox is the best place to find a refreshing and non-algorithm-approved collection of the latest new music favourites from around the world. With over 30 tracks, this week’s playlist will help you forget about the post you were going to make today.

Now, I’ll admit: I do partake in a bit of gatekeeping (sorry). If you want to uncover even more hidden gems from the past week, I would recommend subscribing to my Patreon to receive an extended version of the playlist every Monday – so subscribe now to access even more benefits!

I hope you enjoy the playlist (you can find it at the bottom) and skim through a few highlights below – don’t forget: if you enjoy something, share it around!

Wet – Far Cry

New York City-based trio Wet shares a new song, “Far Cry,” from the forthcoming album Letter Blue, due out October 22nd. A driving synth-line escorts the lush vocals of vocalist Kelly Zutrau to the forefront with a slick, chill-pop foundation underneath on the new single.

Cassidy Waring – Paralyzed

Vancouver indie singer-songwriter Cassidy Waring has shared her latest single “Paralyzed” from her forthcoming debut album Lonesome Reunion, out November 24th. Just in time for Spooky Season, “Paralyzed” has Cassidy exploring her nightmares against a colourful mix of alt-rock, country, and folk pop.

Titus Bank – I Give My All

Vancouver indie pop singer-songwriter Titus Bank wanted to celebrate the everyday moments on his new single “I Give My All”. Often feeling pressured to devote all of his time to music, Bank wanted to remind himself to appreciate the people in his life and the “mundane” tasks outside of music.

Marie Dahlstrom – Need You Pt. 2

Danish singer and producer Marie Dahlstrom has shared her new single “Need You, Pt. 2” alongside Dayne Jordan and Dan Diggas – lifted from Marie’s upcoming Safe Place EP, out October 29th. One of the most exciting voices in R&B, Marie weaves her way through rap verses from her collaborators, as ’90s R&B influences shine through on the piano-led track.

[K S R] – Harmless

On his new single “Harmless”, Manchester hip-hop artist [ K S R ] combines his soulful vocals with glossy R&B beats and subtle dancehall rhythms for a magical, sun-kissed track about appreciating someone special in your life.

Status / Non – Status – Genocidio

Status / Non-Status, (the new name for the ongoing musical work of Anishinaabe community worker Adam Sturgeon (Nme’) and his longtime collaborators), released their new EP, 1, 2, 3, 4, 500 Years back in May via You’ve Changed / The Grizzlar. Alongside the release, they have shared the accompanying music video for the otherworldly track “Genocidio”. Roaring vocals and disorienting instrumentation collide as statement to highlight the ongoing systemic oppression in Canada.
