Glasgow Post-Punk Act Blush Club Share Debut EP ‘A Hill To Die On’
Glasgow-based post-punk five-piece Blush Club stepped into the music scene back in 2020 with their debut single “Love Bites”, drawing from their shared influences and tastes of jangly pop, post-punk, and Brit rock. Meanwhile, the group had been working a collection of new tracks, including the four tracks from their debut EP A Hill To Die On, written back in 2019 once the group took on its final shape. About the release the band shares, “The EP deals with the feelings of detachment and disenchantment with the sometimes mundane cycles of modern life, and the perhaps entitled and irrational urge to rebel against this supposed stability. In many ways, the EP is a response to a collective feeling of angst and malaise.” Blush Club turn the frustrated energy into upbeat and guitar-forward pop, especially on the EP’s namesake track “A Hill To Die On”. Quippy lyrics are dished out through straight-faced post-punk delivery, as the melody and rhythm sections become one on the charismatic single.
