Singapore-Based Alt Rock Duo WAVEBOMB Share New Music Video For “Tea Time”
Singapore based Taiwanese-French duo WAVEBOMB have returned with their explosive new single “Tea Time”. Despite the name, the band find punk sensibilities similar to the likes of DZ Deathrays and FIDLAR for the caffeine-fuelled effort and its colourful music video.
Lyrically “Tea Time” is a fun mix of Asian and Western culture, and is about letting go of material things and rediscovering the importance of human connection. The song boasts a bilingual approach, alternating between English and Chinese, with the voices of Anthony and Charlotte complementing each other.
Shot on an iPhone, the accompanying visual features a panda terrorizing beach-goers after being bullied. “In a world dominated by image we wanted to show how easy it is to judge a book by its cover, assuming the panda will be nice and cute”, explains the band. “The truth is that without awareness of someone’s personality and their past, which can affect their behavior, you might find they’re a bastard » explains the band. “In a similar fashion, it is a criticism of superficiality and writing people off based on appearance, which can lead you to miss out on valuable human connections with wonderful people.”
