PREMIERE: Lo-Fi Beatmaker Saib Announces New Album ‘Under The Stars’; Shares Highlight Track “Jordans” Ft. Bluestaeb
Berlin-based Casablancan lo-fi producer Saib is set to release his eighth album Under The Stars on April 8th via Hip Dozer Records. Having started his career in the early 2010s releasing music on Soundcloud from his bedroom in Morocco, Saib has since released a handful of albums and EPs inspired by Bossa nova, Japanese anime soundtracks, and jazz – not to mention the ever-present old school hip-hop inspirations. On his upcoming 13-track collection, he brings all of that to the table, along with a mix of solo tracks and collaborations, including Tom Doolie, Flofilz, Leaf Beach, and Cap Kendricks.
Addressing the rationale for the album, Saib explains: “with “Under The Stars”, I stay committed to diversifying my musical palette and inspiration sources. The release is a musical journey that will accompany the listener throughout the day, ranging from early morning relaxed grooves, lush melodies to jazzy four on the floor beats you’d hear in a lounge.”
Adding to the list of album collaborations, Saib has shared his latest singe “Jordans”, featuring fellow lo-fi Berlin-based artist Bluestaeb.
Opening with a sample from the movie ‘Do The Right Thing’, “Jordans” keeps things cool and groovy, with a hazy lo-fi guitar tone and standard vinyl crackling effects. Cycling through a slick rhythm and laissez faire guitar solo, “Jordans” incorporates the bounce of old school hip-hop while maintaining the introverted appeal of lo-fi production.
