Toro y Moi Shares Intoxicating New Single & Video “Déjà Vu”

With 3 stellar singles from Toro y Moi’s upcoming seventh full-length album MAHAL already available for over a month, the South Carolina songwriter has provided us with yet another track to show he is ready to make a pitch for one of the best albums of 2022. 

Toro y Moi continues to impress with “Déjà Vu” even with the bar set high with previous singles like “The Loop” and “Magazine”. It is near unavoidable to note how this offering oozes with Beatles influence, most notable in the distorted reverse guitars that power the instrumental and brushed percussion fills in every crevice of the track. Chaz’s vocals feel akin to floating on the surface of a body of water as he recalls: “I think I’m free, but I’m tied down/maybe it’s greed, to take what’s found”.
