Metric Unveil 10-Minute Epic “Doomscroller” Video From Upcoming Full-Length ‘Formentera’
Edited press release:
Canadian music veterans Metric have released “Doomscroller,” an expansive 10-minute sonic and visual voyage that transports you into a “high speed chase through the wild terrain of modern life.” It’s the band’s second single from their highly anticipated upcoming album, Formentera, out July 8th.
The “Doomscroller” video is the next piece in Metric’s ongoing collaboration with photographer/visual artist Justin Broadbent. “Justin captured rare studio footage of the recording of ‘Doomscroller’ and we used it like a visual anchor, as evocative places outside the room keep creeping in,” says the band’s Emily Haines. “These traces of life on earth that appear and disappear throughout the song subtly mirror the shifting moods of the music.”
Additionally, today the band confirm the launch of the Metric mobile app, giving fans early access to limited edition vinyl, exclusive content, concert tickets and more. You can download the app at ilovemetricapp.com. “Metric has been working on an app to streamline the essentials and also to create a space where we can get off the usual platforms and stay in touch directly with people who know why they are there,” says Haines. “Cutting through the noise is something we’ve done since the beginning so this app feels natural.”
Metric will be hitting the road on a North American headline tour, The Doomscroller Tour, set to kick off this August in Victoria, BC with stops in 39-cities. Metric has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket goes to supporting War Child and their work to empower children and families in communities affected by war throughout the world.
