Indie Singer-Songwriter Maya Elise Celebrates Love Languages On New Single “Mailman”

For California singer-songwriter Maya Elise, much of her music stems from her love for her country music idols. “As a kid, I wanted to be a country-pop artist”, she shares. “I worshiped Shania Twain & Natalie Maines (The Chicks)”.

Although she didn’t quite end up in that direction, her new single “Mailman” pays homage to her inspirations, incorporating a warm alt-country twang as she finds a unique position on her new love song.

Written from the perspective of a couple on the rocks, “Mailman” is an optimistic offering, as the pair find a sense of harmony as they rediscover their love, despite feeling as if there were holes in their relationship.

“When I wrote this song, I was thinking about the way we often don’t know how to express our love in a way other people will understand, and we often miss the mark. When we learn to understand each other’s’ love languages, we can start to let go of the cliche ways we think a relationship is supposed to look.”
