Post Hardcore Supergroup L.S. Dunes Share Blistering New Single “Permanent Rebellion”; Announce Tour Dates

The post-punk, hardcore super group you never knew you needed sees icons from the genres teaming up as L.S. Dunes. Bringing together guitarists Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance and Travis Stever of Coheed and Cambria, vocalist Anthony Green of Circa Survive, bassist Tim Payne of Thursday, and Yellowcard/Thursday’s Tucker Rule on drums, there’s no shortage of talent in the room – and it shows on their first single, “Permanent Rebellion.”

The single comes alongside news of an upcoming album and live shows, and the track’s accompanying music video. About the track, Rule says: ““Permanent Rebellion” is about taking back what is rightfully yours. We wanted to do something where you can hear all our bands in it and yet, not have it sound like any one in particular. Our roots are punk rock and hardcore, and the vibe is hope for all the lost souls.”

True to the genre, the track is filled with consistent drums from start to finish, crashing guitars with a riff that hooks you in and Green’s vocals fitting perfectly atop it all. The lyrics speak to themes familiar to fans of the scene, making the new group feel exciting and different but familiar all the same. Seeing the group perform in the music video, it’s not hard to see how they play off one another, and why the melding of groups works so well.

So, where did L.S. Dunes come from? After pandemic shutdowns, the group of friends realized that tomorrow isn’t promised. “We never knew if we would ever get to play these songs together, in fact none of us lifelong musicians really knew if we’d ever be able to play music for a live audience ever again,Iero recounted. The seeds of L.S. Dunes were planted during rehearsals for Thursday’s Christmas livestream event in 2020, which included friends and acquaintances from some of their favourite bands. The chemistry at the  impromptu jam sessions was instantaneous. With the addition of Green, it was organically clear – the music formed the band.

L.S. Dunes will release their debut album, Past Lives, on November 11 via Fantasy Records.
