Rising Hip-Hop Artist Dylan Owen Shares Wonderfully Reflective Short Film Alongside New Single “How To Find Yourself”

With his new EP Take Care Of Yourself out on December 1st, indie hip-hop artist Dylan Owen has shared his compelling new single and short film “How To Find Yourself”. Pushing his abilities and creative direction to new heights, the compassionate and reflective release is a moving coming of age story, from the perspective of strangers and close friends.

Sharing similarities to the likes of Watsky and Hoodie Allen, Dylan puts a strong focus on being poignant and approachable, with poignance and rhythm at his side. Elaborating further on the new release and visual accompaniment, he shares:

“How do you find yourself? Nobody knows. And we don’t either. Which is why we made this for young creatives who feel like their lives may be directionless. If you’ve never felt that way, you’re probably lying to yourself. This song and film are for people who have mistakes that are so large in their minds but not so large in reality, and we hope that maybe hearing other people your age share these exact same insecurities might reaffirm that your life isn’t as messed up as you might think.

As for the film, we didn’t set out to make it. It just happened. The short was captured on 16mm film and a handheld camcorder. We asked those on camera to be honest and say anything that they want to share with the world about finding themselves, overcoming regrets, beating depression, living with anxiety, or fighting the mental health stigma. Looking back, we have a series of testimonials from people in their mid-twenties speaking on their deeply personal struggles to give advice to a younger version of themselves.“.
