Compton Alt Hip-Hop Group BADTALKERS Call Out The Growing Disparity Of Wealth On New Single “I Like It Loud”

Compton-based alternative hip-hop group BADTALKERS wanted to bring awareness to the experiences of their community and daily lives with their music. Their latest single “I Like It Loud”, featuring rapper Benjamin Carter, looks at issues such as gun violence, poverty, and gentrification – all stemming from the out-of-touch politicians and growing class disparity.

Influenced by the likes of NWA, Street Sweeper Social Club, and Jean Dawson, “I Like It Loud” is a genre-bending anthem full of personality and tenacity.

Their latest genre-bending track, I Like It Loud featuring Benjamin Carter shouts about the broken system, and current state of the nation.

“Our band is true to ourselves, it makes a statement and doesn’t really fall into what most bands are doing,” says singer Richard Leon. “We find most of our inspiration from everyday struggles and things that try to keep us down and we try to channel those emotions into our songs. We want to be a voice for those who go through the same things we do.”

Elaborating further about the song, he shares, “We as human race in America are polarized and our leaders are united in keeping the middle and lower class down. Politicians are out of touch with the communities they claim to serve. The wealthy class has a firm boot on the soft neck of the ruling class with no plans to vacate. Stop the car. We want out. Burn it all, or at least listen to us scream about it.”

Despite its heavy subject matter, the song blends punchy alt-punk with slick, west coast soul to give it an attention-grabbing contrast. As well, the accompanying music video has Richard and Benjamin hanging out in their community on a sunny day, giving a fun, optimistic energy to the track.
