Montreal Multi-Instrumentalist SOMBRA Starts Off A New Year With “The Slug”
Matthew Cataldo, producer/songwriter behind SOMBRA balances his time between his home-base of Montreal and Tokyo. Set to release a string of music over the next year while splitting his time across the map, SOMBRA has shared his first of the year with “The Slug”.
Pushing his electronic influences further to the forefront, the explosive new single is a slow-burning and cathartic track that lets change find its natural progression. About the song, Matthew shares, “The Slug” is about trying (and failing) to escape the inevitability of change. And more personally, it is about my last relationship. One which remained stagnant for a long time, until I completely lost control of it. Cinematic and ever-evolving, the track explodes at the end, representing how one cannot escape a natural progression. Moving slowly towards change, like a slug, is only delaying the inevitable“.
Whispering vocals and pulsating synthesizers weave together as a suspenseful and unsuspecting crescendo takes over for its grand finale.
