PREMIERE: Montreal Producer SOMBRA Shares International Collaboration With Japanese Pop Artist samayuzame

Montreal-based producer/songwriter SOMBRA has been balancing his time between Canada and Japan, calling Tokyo a second home in 2023. Beginning the year off with a solo release titled “The Slug”, SOMBRA has shared a fresh collaboration as he delves further into his new surroundings and network, this time working with Japanese pop artist samayuzame on “Euphoric Escape”.

Alternating between English and Japanese, the new effort blends their voices as they sing about finding an escape from the mundane. SOMBRA’s dark-pop production and weighted drum textures balance out against samayuzame’s angelic and feathery vocals, crafting a mesmerizing and tactile listening experience. Weightless and melodic, “Euphoric Escape” combines video game soundtrack tones with ’90s industrial-pop, drawing from the mind of Wong Kar-Wai’s 2000 film “In the Mood For Love”.
