Brooklyn Chamber-Rock Band Peaceful Faces Share New Single “Hunger” From Upcoming LP
Peaceful Faces, the Brooklyn-based chamber-rock group fronted by Tree Palmedo, are set to release their new album Sifting Through The Goo, Reaching For The Candlelight on March 10th. Written over the last few years since the pandemic, Sifting Through is a collection of folk and jazz-adjacent cuts that dive into Palmedo’s self-reflection and growth.
From the release is the striking new single “Hunger”. Clocking in just under six minutes, the adventurous and multi-layered release showcases the band’s more progressive approach to songwriting, while nodding to singer-songwriter pioneers such as Elliott Smith and Sujfan Stevens with the guitar melodies and vocal style.
“I was on the phone with my sister while noodling on the guitar, as I often do”, Palmedo shares about the track’s origin. “She latched onto something random I was playing, and I decided to build a song off of it. ‘Hunger’ is rooted in nostalgia, but it’s also about realizing that things may not have been the way they seemed at the time. I’m proud of the way this one builds patiently to its inevitable climax.”
Through a brooding horn section and steady percussive build, “Hunger” builds to its end, as the listener is ushered out by Palmedo’s soft vocals.
