Indie Rock Act Pine Barons Share Dreamy New Single “Frantic Francis”
New Jersey indie rock group Pine Barons have shared their first release of the year with “Frantic Francis”. The new single also follows the band’s ambitious 2022 cover album I LOVE FISH, a tribute to Japanese ’90s psych-rock group Fishmans. Incorporating the lush, dreamy qualities of their inspirators, “Frantic Francis” blends together effect-laden guitar melodies with star-reaching vocals and production.
About the song, frontman Keith Abrams shares, “Frantic Francis” weaves hypnotic sounds with dreamlike imagery and a pulsing bass line, meant to simulate waking up as a child, when everything is brand new again. But it’s not supposed to be that deep either and mentions embracing mundane things, like drinking tea. After the I LOVE FISH project, I’ve approached songwriting for Pine Barons differently, putting more emphasis on patience, simplicity and really letting a song breathe.”
Sharing similarities to the likes of Ra Ra Riot, Radiohead, and Spoon, “Frantic Francis” keeps things inspiring and focused. Mirroring its simplicity, the accompanying music video has Abrams walking through a foggy alleyway at a calming pace.
