Indie Psych-Folk Artist Dwi Riana & Singer-Songwriter Julie Meunier Team Up For New Single “World War X”

Indonesian-Canadian indie singer-songwriter Dwi Riana recently released their debut EP Jambu Tree a few months ago, showcasing their hypnotic and dreamy psych-folk style and multicultural inspiration. Now, the emerging artist has returned with their new single “World War X”, featuring long-time collaborating Julie Meunier.

“I think of “World War X” as a conversation between two lovers that gradually turns into an argument, ending at the same conclusion for both sides”, Dwi shares. “That being said, I didn’t set out for that when I was writing it. I wrote it on my acoustic guitar, and soon as I found the main guitar rhythm, the words just started to come together so effortlessly. The addition of Julie Meunier to the track really fleshed out the characters and the overall theme of the song“.

The duet has Dwi and Julie blending together their voices on the lush and dreamy release, as influences of Angel Olsen, Maggie Rogers, and Big Thief come to mind.
