Indie Pop Singer-Songwriter Amelie Patterson Shares New Video For “The War”

Albertan indie alt-pop artist Amelie Patterson released her single “The War” back in April, and has returned with its accompanying music video. Filmed and edited by Simon Slade, Patterson teamed up with Jaunita Dawn of Longgrass Studios to create an intimate conversation between puppets that reflect the subtext of the lyrics to her song, “The War”.

Patterson shares, “The song is a plea to a loved one, asking them to stay and fight the war. It’s about riding into battle alongside them, knowing that you’re fighting phantoms and they are fighting very real demons. It’s about finding your place and your strength to keep going. Living with mental health and addiction is a chaotic and challenging experience, one that is also so human. I’ve learned so much and this conversation represents what I wish I had known to say and what I think the response would be had they known how to say it.”

Filmed in Patterson’s kitchen with Dawn’s expert puppetry, the new visuals provide a compelling and unique perspective for the heartfelt and delicate offering. Patterson’s soft vocals build in strength through her sincere lyricism and melancholic songwriting.
