Award-Winning Jazz Artist Nubya Garcia Finds Joy In The Hustle With New Single “Pace”
Following her self-released 2018 EP When We Are, composer and jazz musician Nubya Garcia has shared her new single “Pace” after signing with Concord Records. The award-winning saxophonist takes the listener on an 8-minute journey, weaving through the hustle and bustle of the world with style and intricate swagger.
Garcia wanted to mimic the feeling of “being isolated and disconnected from ourselves and each other”. The song’s feverish, disorienting energy builds and crashes throughout, matching the music with the ebb and flow of life. Clustered chords and time signatures find a way to unleash beauty amongst the chaos on “Pace”, before sinking into a groovy, yet frantic piano solo by pianist Joe Armon-Jones, backed by bassist Daniel Casimir and drummer Sam Jones.
