Electronic Artist Wax Tailor Shares Dystopian, Award-Winning Video For “Misery”

The song’s mantra of “Misery is my friend” complements the overlapping voice reciting a speech aimed at the world’s imbalance and passive approach by the powerful for change. The result is a moody, soul-crushing combination that is backdropped by the dystopian music video.

About the video, Wax Tailor shares,“Berkay contacted me earlier this year to propose to work on an animated music video. I was just ending  ‘Misery’. The speech I used comes from the past (the ‘80s) and is unfortunately still relevant in the present. So, I said it would be interesting to imagine a future dystopian scenario. Berkay came with the emoji faces idea & we’ve begun to exchange ideas about the concept & this allegorical lecture.”

Having won awards at The New York International Film Awards, Oniros Film Awards, and the Cannes Indie Short Awards, “Misery” is a complex and detailed statement about heavy surveillance of an authoritarian society; something that, for some, may not feel too far off.

As the orange-faced characters move around the dark, gloomy city, Wax Tailor’s dramatic, hip-hop infused electronic down-step track provides the heavy-footed soundtrack.
