Maxwell Stern Shares His Gratitude With New Single “Left in the Living Room”
With his debut solo album Impossible Sum hitting shelves on September 25th, Philadelphia singer-songwriter Maxwell Stern has shifted gears from his days of emo pop punk and readjusted for sincere, indie folk tunings. The album will explore themes about self-discovery and the confusion of settling in and out of relationships. From the upcoming release is “Left in the Living Room”, a song written about past and present relationships and the importance of showing appreciation for the people around you.
Featuring vocalist Laura Stevenson, “Left in the Living Room” borrows influence from the likes of Ben Folds, Jack’s Mannequin, and The Weakerthans, incorporating heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics with rich, twangy indie rock sounds. It’s heavily seeded in ’00s emo-rock but with the roundness and maturity of a veteran songwriter, “Oh, how I loved you then, even in hindsight’s oft-lopsided lens”, he sings.
