Windsor-native and Toronto based Pat Robitaille pays tribute to the women in his life with his new single ‘Fearless Woman.” The track, which highlights Robitalle’s characteristic voice, is accompanied by an animated video which brings to life the song’s celebration of womanhood.
The track highlights Robitaille’s controlled falsetto over a soulful nu-disco instrumentation that keeps the song upbeat and lively as it celebrates the women who inspired the lyrics. “In a world that is perpetually set up to hold women back, these are the bravest, strongest, most resilient and inspirational people I know,” says Robitalle about the women who surround him and inspired the song. “The birth of my own daughter and how my wife so fearlessly brought her into this world… it was the most amazing thing I had ever witnessed. The wonder and mysteriousness of how gracefully all women navigate this world is pure inspiration. I can’t measure up to that but it motivates me every day.”
Bringing the story of the song to life is the animated video from U.S. animation duo Opertura. Adapting Robitalle’s lyrics into a story of two friends, as one researches her surrounding environment, altering herself as needed to the situation sometimes with lasting consequences. “I see so many metaphors and undertones in this video about the fearlessness and oppression of women,” shares Robitaille. “In the end these experiences become a part of her existence forever, yet she continues to fearlessly explore them.” Matching perfectly with the track’s final verse, Robitaille divulges his own appreciation for the women in his life through the lyrics: “She said fear is a thing we face everyday / she was not afraid but she never felt safe / I don’t know how a man can quite compensate / I’m still mystified by all of her ways.”
