King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Share Party Video For New Single “Intrasport”
Australian progressive rock group King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard released their 16th album since 2010 this weekend. K.G. joins a long list of wildly exciting full-lengths from the experimental six-piece. From the album is the new music video for the single “Intrasport”.
Featuring an ’80s-synthesizer-drench Middle Eastern melody, “Intrasport” is quickly transfixing and surprisingly dance-forward. Known for their progressive and experimental sound, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are not afraid to mix together strange combinations of sounds to create something interesting.
Similarly, the accompanying music video is a quirky and eye-catching visual that uses tableaus and lighting effects to create a series of live-action photo from a night of crazy partying.
“The clip was shot in my tiny studio apartment,” director John Angus Stewart says. “For the main reason that it’s the smallest place I know that someone lives in. The aim was to find the 50/50 split: feeling lonely at a party but surrounded by people. Feeling like you are the only one there and that nobody really understands you (but you still have to bring it). I used 35mm anamorphic to give the small space as much panoramic effect as I could muster. Sometimes the smallest of spaces feel huge when you are partying, why do you think everyone always gathers in the kitchen or bathroom?”
The band certainly make the most of the space, working through different scenes from a night of drinking, giving the off-centered party song an engaging match.
