SG Lewis x Nile Rodgers – One More

Starting off 2021 on a strong note, London singer/songwriter and producer SG Lewis released his debut album times two weeks back. The seamless and lively energy of the track is the perfect addition to a Saturday night playlist, as SG Lewis’ career begins to snowball with each release.

Ant Saunders – Spoiled

For his new music video “Spoiled”, rising R&B-pop star Ant Saunders channeled his best Bonnie & Clyde. The catchy guitar riff and Gen-Z pop production makes for a bouncing tune about giving your partner the world.

Josh Fudge – Feel Like

18 year old indie pop songwriter Josh Fudge released his debut album Fun Times earlier this year. Kape Yeel – Badass Kids

Cat Marina – Contact High

After spending a lot of time with certain people, behaviour and attitudes can start to rub off on each other. Indie pop newcomer Cat Marina (real name Hugh) felt the toxic qualities of a former micromanaging boss beginning to rub off on him, hence his lively new single “Contact High”.

Doctor Imposter – Talk of the Town (Cool Company Remix)

Doctor Imposter is the alias of Brooklyn-based producer/songwriter Brooke Vettese, who also contributes her talents to the R&B-funk group Cool Company. Her hit single “Talk of the Town” was recently remixed by her other project, slowing things down to bring out the song’s irresistible groove and funk energy.

FVZ ft. Siera – On My Way

Another exciting debut is upon us, this time from Toronto-based producer FVZ. With a previous track record as a resident DJ and percussionist, FVZ has merged the two with his dancehall-inspired EDM tune “On My Way” featuring vocalist Siera. Son Lux – A Different Kind of Love

As one of modern music’s most captivating acts, the genre-less trio of Son Lux have released their latest single “A Different Kind of Love”; a continuation of sorts from their 2020 two-part album Tomorrows. Haunting vocals and string arrangements are suspended in the air as percussive instruments chime in and out to shape the song. There’s something consistently captivating about the group’s music.

Kayla Grace – Bird In A Cage

Now a year into the pandemic, many are still dreaming of the day they will be able to reconnect with friends and family offline – and for some, the idea of living a normal university experience. 19-year old singer-songwriter Kayla Grace combined her experience of both in her latest single “Bird In A Cage”. The British musician turns her lament into a well-rounded and lush indie pop ballad.

Kaky – Voyage de nuit

French producer/singer-songwriter Kaky recently made the jump from bedroom producer to RCA France signee due in part to his creativity and DIY style. His new single and video “Voyage de nuit” captures his lo-fi roots while shifting into a larger, richer sound, as he dreams through past relationships.

Mat Kearney – Pontiac

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Mat Kearney has once again earned his spot on the From the Inbox round-up. His new album January Flower will be out May 21st, and his warm-spirited and bright sound is back on the newest single “Pontiac”. His Chris Martin-range baritone melts alongside the easy flowing indie pop production as he remembers the days of youth in the scenic music video.

Bill Jr. Jr. – Blue

Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Russell Gendron, who performs as Bill Jr. Jr., released his new album Homebody back in January. His new single “Blue” is off that record, and follows suit with his previously shared song “Dear Neighbour” through the use of a 360 video for a live performance from the band’s van. The free-flowing groove and subtle twang of the track makes for a sweet and simple alt-folk tune.

Reuben and the Dark – Yes

Although originally from Calgary, Reuben Bullock has spent some time recently in Joshua Tree, California to write music, including his most recent single “Yes”. Showcasing his shift from heavy folk-rock ballads into more alternative pop territory, his new song is a conscious effort to bring in more positivity into the world.

LA duo Junaco are the musical embodiment of taking it easy on their new single “Blue Room”. Sports Almanac – Don’t Wanna See (Bright Lights in the City)

Although the alternative emo-rock trio Sports Almanac hail from the Sussex region of the UK, the young band are heavily influenced by the midwest American indie scene. Cinders – Growing Up

Salt Lake City indie rock group Cinders have shared their nostalgia-filled hit “Growing Up”. We Set Sail – Valium Phase

Australian five-piece We Set Sail have been putting out music for the past 13 years, hence their previously released single “Well, That’s 13 Years Of My Life I’ll Never Get Back”. That candid, satirical demeanour comes out in their crunching guitar riffs and melancholic vocals on their latest tune “Valium Phase”. With the arrival of their third album Ritual And Ceremony coming soon, the group are celebrating the love of music in the accompanying music video that features clips from a handful of music-obsessed movie protagonists.

Left Field Messiah – Young Libertine

Acting as an outlet of sorts for Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat), Jeremy Ruzumna (Fitz and The Tantrums) and Erik Janson (Wildling), Left Field Messiah is a melting pot of genres and ideas that the three musicians need to release.
