Winnipeg Indie Songwriter Jaywood Shares Title Track From Upcoming EP “Some Days”
JayWood (the not-so-far-off moniker of Winnipeg-based artist Jeremy Haywood-Smith) is releasing his Royal Mountain Records debut EP Some Days on April 23rd. Originally written and recorded back in 2015, JayWood was going through a major shift in his life with the end of a long-term relationship, shift in social circles, and a move in the books. And that chaos in his life birthed the four track collection, which captured that uncertainty in the music.
“I had to write the EP and learn how to record at the same time, which you can definitely hear in the original recordings”, he explains. “The songs were kinda messy, but I just went with the first ideas that came to mind. I made a rule for myself not to go back on anything, because I didn’t have the time to tweak around.”
JayWood has shared the title track and lead single from the EP, alongside a metaphor-rich music video. The jazzy guitar riff with its bright effects contrast JayWood’s low and slow melancholic delivery, giving off a pensive and articulate demeanour.
