Alt-Pop Duo HARLOR Fall Into Heartbreak With New Single “Heart Games”

(Note: edited press release)

Rising alt-pop/folk duo HARLOR have released their new single “Heart Games”, the latest single from their forthcoming EP Letters To An X, out May 14th. The introspective single immerses the listener in the relatable tale of falling hard for someone when you know it won’t end well.

With a sound that’s as raw as it is real, HARLOR creates music that strives to evoke emotion and connection and “Heart Games” stays true to this sentiment. For singer-songwriter Nick Gerard, the song’s lyrics mirror real life experiences in past relationships. Sharing the meaning behind the track, Nick says “The title ‘Heart Games’ is a parallel to someone playing mind games, but in this instance you know what’s going on. They’re playing with your heart, not your head. The record ebbs and flows to different places as you progress through the song. I think that’s the coolest part of this record, the growth it experiences in just a few minutes.”

Forming the other half of HARLOR is producer Max Anthony, who seamlessly brings to life the emotion behind the lyrics. Marrying guitar driven instrumentals and atmospheric vocal production, “Heart Games” builds into a hard-hitting alt-pop track of infectious hooks, whilst weaving a sincere narrative about foregoing self-preservation for love. “I think I’m going to like all these scars, when you’re gone”, Nick sings. “You can get closer I swear, I won’t run”. Although “Heart Games” may only be the third instalment from this rising indie act, the single exemplifies HARLOR’s already polished sound – making them an artist to watch for 2021.
