St. Vincent Shares Retro Music Video For New Song “The Melting Of The Sun”

After premiering the song on Saturday Night Live back on April 3rd, renowned musician and producer St. Vincent has officially shared “The Melting Of the Sun” and its accompanying music video to the rest of the world. The second track from her upcoming album Daddy’s Home, out May 14th via Loma Vista Recordings, “The Melting Of The Sun” is a wonderful and melancholic psych-rock ballad drenched in ’70s musicality and theatrics.

Using psychedelic ’70s animation à-la School House Rock to match the oozing influences of Fleetwood Mac, Joan Jett, and Prince, the song and its visual pairing transport listeners through time and space, as she pays tribute to strong women in history.

Most notably, “The Melting Of The Sun” stands out due to its stunning production, with the layers of bass, guitar, percussion, and vocals all perfectly balanced and exchanging roles as the song’s powerhouse.
