CAPYAC Collective Share The Good Vibes With “Sanctuary”
Making their start in Austin, Texas, dance act CAPYAC have made the shift to the busy world Los Angeles. The original duo of P Sugaz and Potion started out in 2015 and have grown to include an extensive cast of artists, dancers, performers, and more into their group and live shows. With regular contributions from saxophonist Papa Mongoose, MC Rudi Devino, vocalists, nay jesters Oolaf, Ciceley Fullylove & Bean and percussionist/daredevil Hollywood Zach, their live shows are infamously full of antics -be it freshly griddled pancakes tossed from the stage, wild musical and theatrical improvisations, or puppeteering across California.
Their new single “Sanctuary” and its accompanying music video is an upbeat, nu-disco funk jam that aims to spread the love and positivity, starting with the song’s beat before expanding to the rest of the world.
One of the core band members Slim Jeff shares, “Sanctuary is basically a safe space for love. Protection/escape from all the isms/ills of prejudice in our society. ‘Without love we’re all here just because.’ It’s encouragement to be yourself and to be comfortable with that even if society tells you otherwise and personally it was the freedom to try something new. This isn’t a genre of music I would normally rap to, but it felt like the perfect music bed to make my point. It’s basically a song for anyone who feels marginalized. Like yo we can come together without our biases to this music church/music world/safe space and just have fun“.
