From the Inbox: Songs You Need To Hear (Oct. 25, 2021)

It’s always time for new music!

So congratulations on being at the right place at the right time.

Every Monday, I come through with a refresher for your music library, with a collection of the best new singles from the past week. Sure, it’s now Tuesday but that’s just semantics.

Either way, check out the full From The Inbox playlist at the bottom, and scroll through a few highlights from the collection just below. This week has 50 tracks to bless your ears so there is plenty to go around.

If you want to double down on your From the Inbox experience, you can subscribe to the Dusty Organ Patreon to access the Extended version – with twice as many tracks each and every Monday. Plus, members receive a welcome bundle, along with access to concert & album release schedules, concert galleries, and more!

For now, enjoy the new playlist HERE or scroll through a few favourites before finding it at the end. And remember: if you like something, share it around!

Jak Lizard – Callin’ Me

New York soul-pop artist Jak Lizard worked with Brasstracks on his new single “Callin’ Me”, so it’s of no surprise that his buttery croon shines bright over a catchy and feel-good track. Plus, the accompanying music video is a fun and “cameo”-filled visual.

Dijon – Rodeo Clown

Ahead of his debut album Absolutely out next month, breakthrough star Dijon continues to dazzle with his latest single “Rodeo Clown”. His rich vocals and carefree soul sensibilities are an out of this world combination once again.

SALOMEA – Umami & Lime

Crisp, hyper-textured production and glossy neo-soul vocals come together for SALOMEA‘s striking new single “Umami & Lime”. As the title suggests, the song is filled with flavour and goes through a feast of sounds and arrangements.

Mick Jenkins – Scottie Pippen

With his new album Elephant in The Room out on Friday, Mick Jenkins returns with a new cut “Scottie Pippen”. The new record is a vulnerable collection of tracks that explore the idea of asking for help, the tensions that arise from success, and allowing change to happen. “Scottie Pippen” delves into the idea of feeling under-appreciated no matter how great the work is.

Wet – Larabar

Now onto their third album Letter Blue, New York City trio Wet have shared the choreographed music video for the jazzy single “Larabar”. The orchestral arrangements of the track bring out a dreamy quality while Wet blur synthetic and analog with emotive results.

Valley Boy – Disgusting

Honesty goes a long way, and for indie duo Valley Boy, it’s at the heart of their new single “Disgusting”. A wonderfully chill journey through bedroom lo-fi eventually opens up into a buzzing rock finish, highlighted by their less than usual secret-spilling in the lyrics.

Ultra Q – It’s Permanent

Despite thinking the track was “trash” in its early days, “It’s Permanent” quickly became Ultra Q’s favourite from their upcoming EP Get Yourself A Friend. ’90s synth-wave and grunge combine with modern alt-rock for an underground rock hit that feels both like a Euro disco club hit and a song blowing over the speakers at 3am in a punk dive bar.
