Singer-Songwriter Bobby Halvorson Shares Latest Single “Nothing Feels Like Home” From Upcoming Full-Length
Sacramento-based singer-songwriter Bobby Halvorson is gearing up to release a new album later this year. His latest single “Nothing Feels Like Home” previews the moody, stirring release, bridging together vintage psych-pop musicality and candid, lush indie rock.
“Nothing Feels Like Home” is pretty plainly about the struggles and suffering that comes with having a debilitating anxiety disorder. It is something I have struggled with for over a decade. My hope is that the people who hear this and suffer from this same condition will know they’re not alone in it because it can certainly feel that way when you’re in the thick of it.
This tune started out with a simple piano melody and I thought the vocal melody fit best in a feeble falsetto, which is usually how I sing to myself. I wanted the groove to be constant and to provide a bed for the song’s message. I asked the rhythm section, Marcus Buser on bass and Cooper Wolken on drums, to play as if they were trudging through mud. I wanted the listener to feel the stickiness of this state.”
His gentle and haunting vocal qualities depict the emotions of the song effortlessly, creating a mysterious and melancholic blanket that coats over the music courtesy of Halvorson’s dreamy falsetto.
