Asha Imuno Shares Blissful New Single “ZIG ZAGGING”
You may have seen LA-based prodigy Asha Imuno on your TikTok For You page as early as January of this year providing a sneak peek of an extremely infectious alt-R&B jam. This past weekend, “ZIG ZAGGING” was released across digital streaming platforms and has arrived with the same intensely majestic feeling it first brought in its earliest snippets.
At just 21 years old, Imuno has a gift for syrupy sweet flows matched with a subtle lyrical prowess. From the first bunch of listens (of which there have already been many), zig zagging appears to have both a negative and positive connotation for the self-proclaimed “multihyphenate”: the final line from the song’s main verse “Something coming and it ain’t that far” is sung almost as a manifestation of dreams come true, but with references throughout the song to “the loaded .30 underneath my mattress”, there is also a suggested double meaning of paranoia to this phrase, of the need to walk out of order to dodge potential danger. It’s only fitting that the sleek bass and gated guitar plucks that surround the grooving drum loop seemingly trudge behind as if they are following Imuno’s luscious voice.
